Juan Carlos I signed today publicly the law that abdicates the throne of Spain, which will take effect at midnight, when he will be succeeded by his son, who will reign in the name of Philip VI.

The Royal Palace of Madrid, Juan Carlos de Borbón initialed the law passed by the two Houses of Parliament and in the presence of the leading authorities of the State, as well as by Prince Felipe, future monarch.
